Christmas, 1992. Austin told Carrie about all of his collectable jazz records which he didn't have a record player for. Carrie showed Austin a diamond earring that John had given her for an earlier Christmas present. She had to pawn one of them at one time to pay the rent. Austin sold his record collection to buy the earring back for Carrie, while Carrie sold her other earring to buy a record player for Austin. That same Christmas, Austin played Carrie's favorite song for her on a keyboard at the family Christmas at Roman and Marlena's house.
Austin took Carrie to A Cabin for a nice getaway. There Carrie cooked supper and Austin taught her how to play the piano. Little did Austin know that Carrie sabotaged the car so Austin couldn't make it to his last matching match.
